Welcome to the new version of Seekular! We’ve been working on this for the past few months and its ready now to use. There’s lots of changes which have been made, but the main ones are:

• Search can be carried out on different types of videos, including Business, Promotions. Property and Recruitment




• Businesses can have their own business page, where they can show products, write a blog and use Twitter to promote their services




• Users can subscribe to the site, and pay a monthly service for extra features

So here we are on approaching the end of the year and we’ve packed a lot into such a short space of time. We started working on the Seekular website in October 2009 and three months later we have a fully working site with our first 50 videos here too!

We’re constantly improving the site with more additions and features - no doubt Moin will be writing about those soon in his blog. And we can all look forward to the seekular iPhone app in the New Year too.

So to round off - wishing everyone a Happy New Year and looking forward to a brighter 2010!

I’m Moin and I’m the CTO of Seekular. I’ll be giving some updates on how the technical side of the website is going, with the improvements and changes being made.

This week saw the introduction of the new feedback section, which will allow anybody to post comments about the site. This should help us to find out what people think, and what changes people want to be made. Its a useful way for people to interact with the site too.

We also have a new link on the homepage called ‘View All Videos’, which will bring up a list of all the adverts we have made so far. There are 44 videos currently, and we are getting close to our first 50, which will be a good milestone to reach. Users can view all of them to see what kind of videos we’re making.

There is also now a button in the My Videos section called ‘Inform’, so if you posted a video about someone elses business, you can let them know about it and send them a direct link with one click. This will make it easier for people who collect lots of videos.

I thought I should introduce myself too and tell you a little bit more about the business. My name is Faisal Haque and I am one of the co-Founders of seekular.com.

About 6 months ago, I had a video made of my business and was amazed at how cheap and easy it is to do, as well as the pure visual impact of the advert - so much better than text or photo. A video advert really does show the customer what your business is all about.

So we thought it would be great idea to do this for all businessess - have a simple to use video directory, and seekular was born.

All videos are free to upload, and we will even come along and take the video for you if you like - just drop us a line.
Its really good fun meeting all the other small business owners too - we’ll keep you posted on the new and funny ones uploaded. Some people are really shy, but others take to it like a duck to water!

Since we 1 started our ‘support your local business through video’ campaign we thought that it would be a good idea to open up our blog and introduce you to seekular, the popular search.

My name is Jonathan Cohen and I am the co-founder of seekular, a website dedicated to promoting your businesses, product or yourself through video.

Seekular came about as we wanted to give businesses the opportunity to promote themselves other than through youtube which I think has lost its way and is just not ‘cool’ anymore due to the amount of ads and the overly busy pages.

Seekular aims to be simple and very ‘user lovely’ to use and unlike google doesn’t just transfer you through a link to a different website but you can view the video of your choice immediately and make a decision on whether you like the business/product or person. This saves time is more practical and much more personal than all the sites mentioned above. You can upload as many videos as you wish at no cost and maintain and edit them yourself.

The team is made up of a few guys that think search by video, or as we call it sbv’s, is the next big thing. We wanted to combine search and video, two of the biggest thing on the web, and turn them into one.

We did it and its called seekular!
